Vancer Backup
A Windows backup for files and folders. The repository sits on a drive you choose. New Spectrum Solutions does not host your files.
What you get
- File and folder backup from the desktop window, the
vbackupcommand, or a Windows service that runs saved jobs. - Later backups store what changed. Identical data is stored once, compressed.
- Optional encryption. You keep the passphrase. It is not saved in the job file. An encrypted scheduled job reads it from an environment variable you name.
- A catalog you can search, a restore browser, and a verify command that checks the stored chunks.
- Sync beside backup: Mirror copies changes and does not delete, Echo also removes destination files that are gone at the source, Two-way copies both ways, and Contribute copies only the files you pick.
- Files that cannot be read are skipped and listed. An optional snapshot can read open files. If that snapshot cannot be created, the backup reads the live files and says so.
Not in this version
- No cloud account, no hosted backup, and no storage quota from us.
- No bootable system restore and no finished whole-disk image.
- No published license yet. The current license text is a draft and is not the contract.
- The build that exists is not the signed company package.
Where a backup goes
You pick a source folder and a destination. The destination holds a repository named for that source. Run the same backup again and only new data is written. vbackup verify checks a snapshot. Restoring to a spare folder is the check that the files come back.
When the installer is posted, it will be at downloads.newspectrumsolutions.app. That host is empty today.
